CBC Radio has posted a great audio podcast interview with Clay Shirky, author of Here Comes Everybody: the Power of Organizing Without Organizations. Clay makes some dynamite points during the 27-minute interview with CBC’s Spark. But, I thought he was particularly insightful in pointing out that consumers are now using social tools to participate in the process of “intelligent production.” The creation of content has been made easier and faster due to improvements in technology. He uses Flickr as an example of a service that requires very little from any one user, but the collective work of a Flickr group is staggering. He also discusses the impact that consumer control is having on the current business model of legacy media.
